NEED HELP songwriting software, please?
I write songs and most of the time I never get the melody recorded so I eventually forget them and all I end up with are stacks of lyrics without sound. I have always wanted to record my songs with instrumentation so that way my friends can hear what I hear in my head. I am not able to play the guitar due to physical incapability, so I cannot record with the instrumentation I hear in my head. My question is, does anyone know of any free software from the internet that will allow me to record my voice and has virtual instruments that will allow me to eventually write a song that I can listen to? I have googled the topic and found many options, but I don’t want to download something that will give me viruses or that I am not sure that will work. I would appreciate any honest help and if you have used the software, let me know how you liked it. This is important to me. Thankyou to anyone who answers (:
if you have/get a mac, they come with GarageBand which is perfect for what you want.
For windows there’s one called Reaper which is either free or super cheap, and meant to be pretty good
There’s another called Ardour which is free, but no idea how good it is.

BTW the software you are looking for is called a DAW (digital audio workstation) and the virtual instruments are usually plugins that work with MIDI, so you can draw in the notes with a mouse.
