Beginner guitar question about finger tips?
My finger tips have started to harden from playing this past month. I notice that I know have little dents on my finger tips from pressing on the strings. Am I supposed to ahve this even when I don’t play?
What you’re experiencing is normal. Playing guitar will cause you to develop calluses on your fingertips, and those calluses actually make it easier to play. At first, however, you’ll get those “dents” in your fingers, and they don’t simply go away. If you go for a while without playing you’ll lose the dents and any calluses you develop will also go away. That’s why it’s important to play on a regular basis — if you don’t, you’ll only be able to play for 15 minutes or so before your fingers start to hurt.
