my guitar sounds different to others ?
okay so i had played a lil bit of guitar before but never actually had my own.. so my best mate got me one for my birthday.. anyway its an acoustic/electric guitar but i don’t have a base yet. i properly tuned it and tried to play the songs i have already been taught.. but it sounds completely different. why is this ? is it because its an acoustic/electric and will it sound beta if i actually get i base. please help
yes i did use an actual tuner.
Guitars sound different. Different brands, different body styles, different wood.
By a base, you mean a thing to put it on so you aren’t leaning it up against something? It’s a good idea – that or a wall hanger. Bases are cheap, though, and portable. It won’t change the sound except that will help it stay in tune a little better vs leaning it up against something.
Another possibility is that since it’s a new guitar it still hasn’t adjusted to your living environment. Temperature changes, different humidity, etc.
Another possibility is that the strings are still new or are approaching being dead. If you haven’t changed the strings, do so. It’s good practice, and that way you know you’re starting from fresh strings. I would say to get Elixirs, but they’re pretty expensive, and if you snap a string (this would be one of your first times restringing a guitar, right?) it would be a bummer to have it be an expensive string. Go with Ernie Ball for now – they’re good strings. Just not the cheapest ones.
Every guitar has a slightly different voice… you’ll get used to it.
Congratulations on the new guitar!
