In this lesson, free beginner piano, learn the difference between major and minor chords and how to play quickly and easily!
When listen to popular music for piano, which creates the tone or mood of the song? Why are some bright and cheerful songs, like the Beatles "The Yellow Submarine "or" When I'm Sixty Four "? And what other songs filled with sadness and emotion, like yesterday,''The Beatles 'or' The Fool on the Hill "?
Much of the difference is due to the common use of major chords in the songs in less happy and sad songs.
Basic Major and minor chords are just three notes played together. So it is fascinating that this important difference in tone between a major chord and a line of agreement, is performed with only a slight adjustment to one of the three notes in the rope!
How to make a minor chord a major chord
For the construction of a minor agree, you take the corresponding major chord and simply lower the average half step or semitone.
Turning on your piano or keyboard, the keys are directly adjacent are a half step or semitone apart. The adjacent notes can be white or black. Thus, to lower the note one semitone or half step, just go to the following key piano with the left.
For example, if you download the following note by half step:
– F # becomes F,
– A becomes Ab
– C becomes B, and
– F is E.
Let's See an example
We have seen our article in this series on how to play "Away in a Manger "as:
– The agreement is in D major: DF # A.
To find the D minor deal, lowering the average grade of D major chord by a half step or semitone F # To F. Therefore,
– The agreement in D minor is: A. DF
Playing these two agreements, one after another and hear how different in tone!
Chords are represented by symbols according to popular music books for piano. Here are the chord symbols of these agreements:
– Agreement on C D major: D
– D minor: Dm
What about all the other types of agreements?
If you look in a book of popular music, as the Fake Series Hal Leonard's Book, you will see many other types of agreements used in the accompaniment. These include the strains of meetings, meeting arrangements, reducing the string arrangements and increased suspension agreements.
Broadly similar to the relationship between major and minor chords, all other types of agreements are simple relationships between them. It's pretty easy to learn to play all these types of complex agreements without reading sheet music, memorize a large number individual agreements or counting half steps or semitones endless lines.
Once you understand the simple key to the wide variety of piano chords, you can learn beautification techniques well with the agreements. Then, you can create your own unique accompaniments to your preferred style of popular music – with ease!
