How much is a custom made Taylor Guitar cost me?

Hey, im planning on buying a custom Taylor Guitar— http://www.taylorguitars.com/buildtoorde… —-

Im planning to make it have a KOA body and a florentine cutaway(the one thats pointed), anyone knows how much it would cost if i buy it from a Taylor Dealer?

by the way, i was informed that if i buy a Taylor Guitar from the internet, instead of an official Dealer, it would be much cheaper….but im not sure if sites like http://musiciansfriend.com/
offers custom Taylor Guitars….so if you guys know some website that sells custom Taylors pls tell me, cuz id like to save some cash….

i also found out the price will depend on the materials and design of the custom guitar you want, so if you can, just give me an estimate price for the things i said:

1.KOA wood body.
2.Florentine Cutaway
3.and my name for the inlays on the fretboard.

by fretboard i meant the neck….not sure…as long as its the part under the strings.. :)

Koa is a very expensive wood. Not as expensive as Brazilian rosewood, but it’s up there. Whoever told you that it’s cheaper directly from the factory is wrong; most guitar companies, including Taylor I believe, only sell custom order guitars through dealers. In any case you will need dealer assistance with a dozens of small details that will require you to make a choice. Do you know what string spacing you want at the nut? How about at the saddle? What wood for the top? What bracing pattern? Do you want wood or plastic binding? If it’s wood, which wood? What kind of tuners do you want? And so on.

I’m guessing you’re looking at $5,000 to $8,000 including the fretboard (that’s the exactly correct term) inlay. By the way, having your name on the fretboard lowers your chances of ever reselling the guitar.

If you’re really going to do this, go to a specialty high-end dealer like Mandolin Brothers, not to your local Guitar Center. Good luck.

Another great place to shop for guitar inlay material products is Amazon. They have more than just books!
